Barbara Ann Ronka (nee Morrison) 1961-2022
After a valiant battle with cancer, with deep sorrow we mourn the passing of Barb on Thursday, October 20, 2022 with devoted husband Norm and treasured son Devin by her side in Southlake Regional Health Centre. Predeceased by stepdaughter Jess, she will forever be remembered by step son Bobby, brothers Dave (Penny), Jim (Debby), step mother Ruth, nieces and nephews Paul (Lise), Sean (Kim), Melissa (Dillon), and Brittany, along with her brother in law, Bryan (Barb) and their family.
Barb was first diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 22. She made it her personal mission to not let it define her life. She researched and educated herself and participated in many studies, making a difference in the lives of many others who followed her while becoming her own best advocate for prevention and good health. When Barb was hit with cancer a second time she took early, early retirement (as she liked to say) to live life on the lake where her and Norm found their true home. She continued to live life to the fullest. Her and the family's beautiful golden retriever, Daria, became a Therapy Dog team volunteering for 7 years at Respite Southlake. To quote a few friends when hearing of her passing, it was said: "She was the strongest person I have ever met. You don't know how much she inspired me in life." and, " We loved her since the day we met." Barb was an inspiration to all of her children, family and friends.
Rest in peace.
