Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Born in Owen Sound on Monday, April 23, 1962, Betty Lou Helen Elizabeth McNabb, was in her 63rd year.

Beloved wife of the late Nigel Read. Loving mother of Miranda McNabb (Mark Koning). Cherished grandma of Jaemarie and Lillian McNabb. Dear sister of Ivan McNabb, Mary Lou Brown (Paul), Butch McNabb (Kim), Bob McNabb, Barbara Cook (Mark), Patti McNabb, Bill McNabb (Nadine), Michelle McNabb (Dan) and Traci-Lynn Carleton (Kevin). Betty Lou will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. 

Predeceased by her parents Harold and Viola McNabb (DeBaie), siblings Russell, Rosemary and Heather McNabb, and by her in-laws Donna McNabb and Jay Morse.

Betty Lou served as Minister at First United Church, Christian Island United Church and Georgina Island United Church, she was an avid reader and had friends and colleagues around the country. 

Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A final visitation will be held at First United Church, 435 21st St. W., Owen Sound, on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 9:45-10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service to celebrate Betty Lou’s life at 11 a.m., with Reverend Kristal McGee officiating. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s website and a recorded version will be posted online. A reception will follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Branch 6, 1450 2nd Ave. W., Owen Sound.
