Etherington, Eileen (nee Armstrong)



Peacefully in the presence and comfort of her family on Friday, December 3, 2010, Eileen Etherington, in her 80th year, beloved wife, friend and companion of Buchan. Loving Mum to Mark and his wife Kelly of Bolton and Bruce and his wife Joan of Sutton. Loving Grandma to Andrea, Kyla, Nicole, Victoria and Stephanie. Sister-in-law of Andrew Etherington in London, England. Sadly missed by Debbie Etherington. Eileen was born in Hawick, Scotland, emigrating in 1967 with her young family where Canada soon became her adopted home. They settled in Sutton where she and Buchan successfully operated the family business, Etherington Insurance Brokers. Eileen spent countless summer hours maintaining her beautiful gardens, flowers and bird feeders then enjoyed the time spent with family and friends on the deck overlooking them. For many years extended vacations to her favourite island, Barbados became her annual highlight where she would bask in the warm weather with close friends and family visitors while allowing, her to celebrate her Scottish heritage. Friends are invited to call at the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton on Monday, December 6th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00pm. A Celebration of Eileen's life will be held at Knox United Church, 34 Market Street, Sutton on Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 at 1:30pm with visitation in the church from 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket would be appreciated.
