Peacefully in his sleep at his home in Sutton, on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by his parents William and Rose Ellis. Loving husband of 38 years to Cynthia. Predeceased by his wife Doris. Dear father of John and the late Bobby Ellis. Dear brother of Vera. Predeceased by his brothers William, Clifford, and Vernon. Honoured uncle, great uncle and great great uncle. George participated in D-Day and the liberation of France and Holland. After the war, George owned and operated Ellis Nurseries and planted many trees along Durham Region's roads. George was a loving husband, father and uncle. Resting at the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Rd, Sutton, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. A Veterans Service will be held in the funeral home, Wednesday, Remembrance Day, at 7:00 p.m. and a Masonic Memorial Service, Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Family interment, Pine Hills Cemetery.
