James Edward Baker

January 14, 1952 — August 14, 2022

Baker, James Edward

James Edward Baker, age 70 years, loving husband to Marion and father to Leo, Bradley and Ashley passed away in the early evening of the 14th of August at home in Jackson's Point surrounded by his beautiful family after a courageous battle with cancer. James more commonly known as Jim was born in 1952 in Carbonear, Newfoundland to a large family of 24 brothers and sisters and his hard-working parents, Flora and John Baker. At the young age of 15 Jim left Newfoundland with a plan and a dream. With only a few dollars in his pocket and a determination and resourcefulness like no other he worked hard and along with his wife Marion, built a family, a business and a life he was more than proud of. Jim was a provider not only for his family but for everyone who needed him he had a knack for seeing the good in people especially those other casted aside. He truly made a difference in many people's lives just by being him and his kindness and compassion always shone through. Jim was never a quitter in life and always persevered even when the odds were stacked against him. Jim was rough around the edges with a loud and boisterous personality, well known for yelling and screaming at local hockey games and racetracks. Jim lived loud and hard, but he loved louder and harder. He wore his heart on his sleeve and more than once gave the shirt off his back to someone in need. He would and many times has given more than he had to give to help others. There is no way to put into a few words the positive impact Jim Baker has had on the world. He was a gift to the world and will be missed by all who knew him and loved him, especially his devoted wife of 48 years Marion (Hurley) Baker, proud son's Leo (Susie) Baker, Bradley (Jennifer) Baker and doting daughter Ashley (Trevor) Gear. Adoring grandchildren Tristan, Colby, Skylar, Liam, Ava, Carly, Blake, Brooke, Abigail, Travis and Tanner. Loving sisters Flora (Wilson) Snow, Juile Gear (Bruce Dean), Margret (Predeceased: Billy) Neil, Linda Krone (Everett Dean) as well as a very large circle of predeceased siblings, nieces and nephews, sister-inlaws and brother-inlaws, family and friends. Jims family far extends past blood relatives as he has been a father, brother, and grandfather figure to too many to mention over the last 70 years. Jim is well known for his amazing landscaping abilities, work ethic and eye for detail but the biggest legacy he leaves behind is his larger-than-life personality, out of the ordinary ways and his heart of gold. He was put on this earth to help others and that is just what he did. Jim accomplished so much in his life and overcame many obstacles to build the life he dreamed of but his biggest accomplishment was his family whom he loved and cherished every day of his life. Loved and missed forever the man, the myth, the legend and now our guardian angel James Edward Baker. Cremation to take place at Innisvale Crematorium. Arrangements in care of the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, Sutton. All who knew Jim or wish to pay their respects will be welcome at a celebration of life to be held at Pheasant Run Golf Course, 18033 Warden Avenue, Sharon, Ontario, Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 3 – 6 p.m. with reflections at 4:00 p.m. Please RSVP via Email to ashleybaker201@hotmail.com. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Memorial condolences may be made at www.forrestandtaylor.com
