(John) “Paul” Condon passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by his family.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario on December 29, 1938, he was the of son of Vernon and Mary Condon and brother to Larry Condon.
After a loving 17-year marriage to Dorothy (McGovern), Paul became a widower with 5 children. Father to Mary, Patti, Rachael, Michael and Beth. Father-in-Law to Jim, Scott, John, Ken and Ashlyn. Poppa to Hannah and Ben, Emily and Mac, Ava and Leo, Ethan and Madeline.
His 34-year career in education was both diverse and impactful. He was a beloved teacher and colleague and his experiences included being an administrator, guidance counselor, classroom teacher and librarian. He was awarded York Region’s Teacher of the Year.
In 1982, Paul found love again when he met Astrid and together they created a loving and somewhat unconventional family. In 1998, Paul and Astrid were married and would continue to create a lifetime of memories together. They enjoyed travel to places like Italy, Alaska, Ireland and all across North America. One of his favourite destinations was Vermont. Last summer the entire family travelled there together. It was a highlight for Paul to be able to share Vermont with his family.
Paul was an avid sports fan who loved The Habs, The Expos and The Blue Jays. He was also a long-time member of the Sutton Curling Club, but his favourite activity was to coach his own children or to watch his grandchildren play their sports.
Paul had a great group of friends. He enjoyed coffee shop visits, golf, playing cards and "short and sweet" social outings.
Paul was passionate about reading, gardening, discovering old videos on YouTube, listening to music, as well as feeding and watching animals, including regular visits from his birds, squirrels, foxes and raccoons.
Paul’s greatest passion however was his family. His only wish was for his family to remain close when he was gone.
We promise your wish will be honoured.
