Steffan, Lauren Nicole
Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on Thursday, January 5, 2023, Nicole Steffan, age 38, cherished daughter of Val and Kathy Steffan (Brooy), dear sister of Kirk (Bailey), Brandon, Jack and devoted Mom to her dog Bobby. Nicole was treasured by her five Aunts (Carol (Robert), Laurie, Jennifer, Lorri and Janet) and 14 cousins (Rebecca, Monica, Stephen, Drew, Christina, Jessica, Phil, Kristi, Shannon, Evan and Kelsey). She was immensely grateful for the love and support from her dear friend Jamie (Bakari).
After graduating with a business degree from Western University, she pursued a career in commercial real estate, first at Cushman, then followed by taking a lead role as part of the leasing team at Allied Properties. She paved her way as a highly respected professional through passion, creativity, and a natural intuition for the industry. She was sincerely appreciative and humbled by the love and support that the Allied team afforded her throughout.
A water-baby at heart, she loved water skiing, paddle board yoga, boating and swimming. Recently she designed and purchased a beautiful custom home in Willow Beach, adjacent to Lake Simcoe, that was close to family, and expressed her artistic talent and love for water and a beachy vibe. Nicole would light up any room with love and affection, never needing a reason to celebrate. Notably the life of the party – laughing, dancing, and singing (albeit off key). Music is an integral part of the Steffan family and a passion that emanated from her. She travelled extensively and sought new experiences and adventures.
Nicole was accepting of all – she was empathetic, understanding and knew what to say and when to say it. Her heart and personality were contagious. She was a comforting soul to confide in – always willing to listen, never judging and sharing sage advice. Many of her family and friends have commented that she was a beacon and has been instrumental in their success and happiness. She was everyone’s personal cheerleader.
With an affinity to challenge herself and push limits, she completed two ½ marathons and several bike-a-thons, raising awareness and thousands of dollars for breast cancer. As a keynote speaker, she shared an inspiring and empowering account of her fight and journey with breast cancer.
Thank you to all the medical professionals, the staff of St. Michael’s, Sunnybrook, Princess Margaret, Toronto General and Southlake Regional hospitals, and the extensive support of friends and family.
A celebration of life for colleagues, friends and family will be held at The National Club, downtown Toronto, on January 19, 2023 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Nicole expressed her desire that all guests wear colorful clothing.
Pursuant to Nicole’s request, charitable donations to the Canadian Blood Services (https://www.blood.ca/en) would be appreciated, as well, kindly consider becoming a regular blood donor.
