LaVerne Rich Jewell
May 2, 1929—October 23, 2015
The family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of LaVerne, as a result of complications from a stroke. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Thomasina, and his three step-daughters Susan, Dianne and Dawn, and their families. LaVerne was lovingly known as Grampa Jewell to Brent, Lisa, Katelyn, Lindsey, Shannon, Samantha, Mark, and seven great grandchildren. Special brother-in-law to Jean Giles and her family. He will be remembered by his many cousins, extended Cameron family members, friends and neighbours. Son of the late Arta and Noble Jewell. Predeceased by his brother LeRoy Jewell. LaVerne was a long-time resident of Sutton, and teacher in York Region for 33 years. He was a respected member and elder at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sutton for many years. LaVerne loved music, and would often play his violin, taught to him by his mother. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed the Blue Jays’ games immensely this fall. Thanksgiving this year was family day for LaVerne. He had a great visit with everyone. In accordance with LaVerne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton West on Sunday, November 8th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.Memorial condolences may be made at www.forrestandtaylor.com.
