PATRICIA STANOJEVIC

(NEE PATRICIA SUSAN BOURCHIER ANDERSON)

JULY 6, 1931 – June 30, 2015

On June 30, 2015, Pat died at the Trillium Hospital, Mississauga. She was the wife of the late Mike Stanojevic , sister of Margaret Anderson, step-mother of Snezana Stanojevic and step-grandmother of Jesse and Jeremy Wolford.

Pat had an outstanding career in the academic and medical professions. She attended Havergal College; spent two years at Trinity College, University of Toronto; trained as a nurse at Sick Childrens Hospital (SCH) where she won the Milton J. Cork Prize; completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of British Columbia where she won the Helen L. Balfour Prize. She was head of In-Service for Nurses at SCH and was Inspector of Schools of Nursing and Training Centres for nurses assistants. She went on to the College of Nurses for Ontario as the Assistant Director of Professional Standards. She completed a masters degree at McGill University and received the Canadian Red Cross Fellowship, as well as two Kellogg bursaries. She then taught nursing at Queen's University.

In 1969, Pat married Mike Stanojevic and then returned to Toronto where she worked in Research and Planning for the Ministry of Health. She became Director of Nursing at Toronto General Hospital and then transitioned to George Brown College, and through this had the opportunity to do international development in Jamaica, Indonesia, the eastern Caribbean, and Warsaw. After retirement, she and Mike travelled the world, circling the globe twice.

Pat was exceptionally modest and was a very kind and considerate person, always doing things for others. A devout Anglican, she continually promoted Christianity in the Anglican tradition and established the Parish of Georgina Endowment Fund. She was proud of her heritage, especially as her great-grandfather James O'Brien Bourchier founded Sutton.

Pat was rarely seen without knitting needles in her busy hands. She knitted beautiful items for her friends and family and also produced superb embroidered kneelers and cushions for her church.

A service celebrating Pat's life was held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 2pm at St. James Church, 31 River St, Sutton, ON L0E 1R0, followed by interment in the cemetery.

Donations to the Cancer Society or the Anderson Stanojevic Endowment Fund (for the Parish of Georgina) would be appreciated.
