Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the age of 90 years. Philip (Phil) Mascard of Island Grove/Georgina, beloved husband of the late Eva (nee Taylor) Mascard. Dear father of Paul (Suzanne), Todd (Lisa), and Peter (Marina). Loving Grandfather of Sydney (Kurt), Michael (Morgan), Shannon, and Ely. Dear brother of Mary Mascard and the late Peter Mascard. Fondly remembered by his extended family and friends. Phil was a long tenured auto mechanic teacher and later department head with the Scarborough Board of Education. Phil enjoyed curling, golf and playing slow pitch baseball while raising his family in Unionville. In retirement, Eva and Phil moved to their new retirement home on Lake Simcoe. Retirement consisted of many trips together all over the world and watching their grandchildren participate in extracurricular sports. After Eva passed in August 2013, Phil stayed in their family home on his own till his passing. Euchre at the Uxbridge Veterans Hall on Friday nights was one of the highlights of his week, especially when he walked away with the top prize. Phil was a born educator and rarely missed a teachable moment with friends and family. He was a lifelong learner and never missed an opportunity to extend his knowledge on a variety of topics. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday August 13, 2023, between 2 and 5pm at the Elmgrove Rec. Hall, Elmgrove Trailer Park, 439 Catering Rd, Sutton Ontario. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements in care of the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, Sutton. The family would like to thank the staff at Southlake hospital for their assistance in caring for Philip.
