Peacefully in her home on Georgina Island, on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Wanda Big Canoe Adamson, loving mother of Dr. Philip Adamson and his wife Lynda. Grandmother of Ahlani and Kalen Adamson. Dear sister of Albert Big Canoe and wife Ann, Andrew Big Canoe and his wife Janet, Lorraine Big Canoe and her partner Martin Tootoosis. Loved by her nephews Mike Big Canoe, Greg Big Canoe, Albert Big Canoe, Andrew Big Canoe and her nieces Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux, Becky Big Canoe, Ellie Big Canoe, Deanna Big Canoe, Trish Big Canoe, Kim Big Canoe, Danielle Big Canoe-Snake, Christa Big Canoe, Greer Atkinson, Leah Atkinson. Predeceased by her brother Charles (Bud) Big Canoe and her nephew Rob Big Canoe. A Traditional Closing Ceremony will be held on Wednesday at 1:00pm by the sacred fire now burning on the Big Canoe family property on Georgina Island near her home and open to the lake she loved. Afterwards, a community feast will be held at 1412 Chief Joseph Snake Road, to celebrate her life, share stories and offer condolences to her family.
