With heavy hearts we announce Winnifrid “Joan” MacRae (nee Cutler) passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024 at her home in Pefferlaw with her husband and family by her side.
She was loved and cherished by many including her husband and the love of her life, John Hughie MacRae, her children Donna (Eric), Steven (Susan), Phillip, Elizabeth (Wilson), Katherine (Darin), Edward (Donna), Peter (Lauraine), Wayne, Daniel (Shirley), Tim (Michelle), Debra (Sean).
Joan leaves behind a legacy as she is a grandmother to 23 children, great-grandmother to 34 children and a great-great-grandmother to 2 children.
Born in Montreal, Quebec and predeceased by parents William and Lillian Cutler.
Predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joan was known for her love of telling stories, her creativity and wonderful sense of humour. She was always the first one to help anyone in need and had a loving and generous heart.
Joan was also well known for her love of animals especially her fur-baby, Sparkles.
In the echoes of fond remembrance, may a sense of peace be found, knowing that the memories held dear will continue to shape and inspire her loved ones, keeping Joan’s spirit alive in the hearts and actions of family and friends alike. While her presence may be gone, her impact lives on in the kindness shown to others and the joy found in the ordinary moments of life.
A private family gathering to remember Joan’s life will be held.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the local Animal Shelter.
